Effortlessly beautiful, Dorothy Dandridge exudes class and epitomises everything glamorous about the 1940s/50's. She has been a hero and inspiration to me for years now and is the star of my all time favourite musical, Carmen Jones. Although hers was a life cut short, the legacy she left is phenomenal. She was the first black woman to be nominated for an Academy Award, an impossible feat at the time. Her strength was amazing and it shows through her fashion. I particularly love her outfits in Carmen Jones because they were striking but enhanced her natural beauty rather than shadowed it. She will always be to me what, I guess, Marilyn Monroe is to everybody else.
I made this buzznet just to keep a little journal of my inspirations and to share them with others. Hopefully you'll get inspired too! Feel free to visit my other blog where I'm more active: www.boxbraidsandbeauty.blogspot.com
Currently my favourite bands are The Skints, The Kooks and Kasabian. Nothing to do with describing myself but they sure make damn good music ;)
