Effortlessly beautiful, Dorothy Dandridge exudes class and epitomises everything glamorous about the 1940s/50's. She has been a hero and inspiration to me for years now and is the star of my all time favourite musical, Carmen Jones. Although hers was a life cut short, the legacy she left is phenomenal. She was the first black woman to be nominated for an Academy Award, an impossible feat at the time. Her strength was amazing and it shows through her fashion. I particularly love her outfits in Carmen Jones because they were striking but enhanced her natural beauty rather than shadowed it. She will always be to me what, I guess, Marilyn Monroe is to everybody else.
I've a keen interest in all things music and fashion related and enjoy using these mediums to express myself. My favourite bands are Flyleaf, Alkaline Trio and Sonic Boom Six. I make and sell my own hair accessories; and more recently I've been exploring more ways to customise clothes. I made this buzznet to keep a 'journal' of my inspirations and to share it with others, in the hope that maybe they can be inspired too. :)
